Reach for the STAAR

Welcome back to another academically challenging school year!

The welcome red carpet is set for our students, teachers, parents and community members that are part of the Jensen family.  Again, this coming year we as a campus willcontinue to “Reach for the STAAR”.

Our STAAR final scores were better thanexpected but we must remember that these were acquired using oldstandards.  As a campus there are areasof weakness.  We will have to go back tohome reading logs, chapter books, reading programs and continued monitoring ofthe Pearson Lab, Power Up, Mind Play and EduSmart for science.  For math we have the new program Fast Mathand Fractionation and we will continue with the Mind Institute Program.  I will keep you informed as to testexpectations and scores.

This past school year we had a successfulmillionaire’s club but we only had forty-five students reaching the millionairestatus.  Our Millionaire Club will befervently pushed to get more students to read and learn about new subjects andstories.

This year we want to assure our parents that wewill do our best to help their child experience academic growth in a safeenvironment.

I, Margarita Gonzalez, invite all of youto have a successful, productive and enlightening school  year.

Exemplary for the following years:
2001, 2008, 2009, and 2010

We want you at school Every Single Day!

  • 2010 NCEA Award

Congratulations! Jessie L. Jensen for receiving the 2010 NCEA Award for Reading, Writing, and Math The Higher Performing Schools (formerly known as Just for the Kids Schools) are identified by two measures: consistent improvement in student achievement from previous years (growth) and/or absolute student achievement using the school's Commended Performance results on the spring 2010 TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test. NCEA's higher performing methodology controls for school and student demographics to allow for an apples-to-apples comparison of school achievement and to demonstrate that with the commitment of educators, all schools can have success no matter the zip code.
