Medical Leave Information

Medical leave is a job-protected benefit that allows SISD employees to take time off for qualifying medical reasons. Employees may be eligible for one of two types of medical leave: Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or Temporary Disability (TD) Leave.

Steps for Requesting Medical Leave

  • Communication: Notify your supervisor as soon as you anticipate the need for leave.

  • Absences: Enter your leave in Skyward for the expected duration, selecting either personal illness or family illness, depending on the situation.

  • Documentation: Submit medical documentation to the Benefits and Leave Specialist. Certification forms and deadlines will be provided when your case is opened, typically up to 30 days before your leave begins.

Returning from Medical Leave

To resume work, you must provide a medical release to the leave department at least two business days before your return date. A medical release is required before you can return to duty.
