The district offers various leave options for employees who have personal needs. If you anticipate being away for more than five days, please reach out to the Human Resources Department.
Use of Leave
Employees are required to adhere to district and campus/department procedures when reporting or requesting leave. Any unapproved absences or absences beyond the available leave balance will result in a payroll deduction.
Leave must be taken in half-day increments. Additionally, earned compensatory time must be exhausted before utilizing any paid state or local leave.
State Personal Leave
In accordance with state law, school district employees working a full workday calendar are entitled to five days of paid personal leave annually. For employees who separate from the district before their final duty day or begin employment after the first duty day, state personal leave is prorated based on actual time employed.
- Non-Discretionary Leave: Leave taken for urgent matters that allow little to no advance notice, such as personal or family illness, a family emergency, a death in the family, or active-duty military service.
- Discretionary Leave: Leave that can be planned in advance and requires supervisor approval at least three days before the anticipated absence. Supervisors will consider the impact on the educational program, campus/department operations, and the availability of substitutes before granting approval.
Local Leave
Employees receive local leave days based on the length of their workday calendar. As with state personal leave, local leave is prorated for employees who separate before their final duty day or begin employment after the first duty day.
